So, i 'm getting along fine with my daiwa regal-x 2500c right now, but i would like to upgrade soon. i suppose i should stick with a spinning reel? i am kind of interested in baitcasting reels but it seems like they 're more difficult to use, and correct me if i 'm wrong, but they 're not really meant for lures, right? besides that, right now, i 'm mainly fishing inland waters/ lakes. however, if i 'm wrong, and one of those would work for me, please recommend a good one that is fairly economical.if those aren 't for me, please recommend a good spinning reel. same thing, please choose an economical one. i would really like to avoid spending over $50. i know they can get very very expensive, but i 'm nowhere near pro level, i just fish occasionally for the fun of it, sometimes to catch a meal, sometimes just to relax, so nothing too elaborate is required.also, i fish for a wide variety of species. bass, trout, cats, panfish, kokanee/ inland salmon, and sometimes when i 'm in the right area, sturgeon. i am planning on doing some saltwater fishing as well, relatively soon, but i 'm not gonna be fishing for anything too big.thanks so much in advance. How To Fix My Fishing Reel?
Hi,i have a surfcasting fishing reel. recently while fishing, i went to tighten the drag on the top of the spool (clock-wise). however, it seemed to turn, and turn, and turn, forever and never getting tighter. the line was still free to pull out so it definitely was not doing anything.if i take the spool off, i can screw on the drag knob clock wise and it tightens fine, therefore the thread is fine. nothing appears broken and everything looks normal from what i can see. when i put the spool back on, the drag knob wont tighten again.it is almost like the spool in not down far enough or something, but the washer/ cog are as low as they can possibly go.anyone have any ideas what is going on here?thanks (Read answers)

I have three ambasaduer 7000 fishing reels i use for salt water fishing. i filled them up with the cajun red mono line. the line spools on two of the three reels are now cracked. i 'm going to have to replace the spools. the two that are broken are older reels but the spools are made out of some kind of metal and shouldn 't have cracked. i 'm thinking the mono expanded and forced the spools to crack. the cracks are at the ends of the spools. has anyone ever had this problem? Help Me Set Up My Drag On My Fishing Reel, Please?
Okay, so i know i 'm going to sound stupid in more ways than one here. oh well.alright, so i understand the basics of how you set up drag now. the knob on top of the spool is how you adjust it. one way increases it, one way decreases it.however, i don 't get the ins and outs of setting it up. i have a spring scale, but it is small and the highest capacity it can measure is 1kg.so, i guess i need to kind of just go by feel...?anyway, i 'm setting up two reels. one has 8lb mono on it for bass, and one has 4lb mono on it for trout and panfish.how do i set the drag on both of these reels to where it needs to be? the main one is the "bass reel ", but i 'm a perfectionist and i would feel better if i set both up.thanks in advance. Okay. so, i need to get this done. you may have seen my question before, but i didn 't get a real answer. here 's what 's up.i 'm using 4/ 10 berkley fireline braided line on a daiwa regal-x 2500c reel. i 'm fishing for bass mainly, possibly slightly bigger fish if possible (of course, that depends on if i get my drag set). the rod i 'm using is medium-high action (one piece 6 '6 " shakespeare uglystik)how do i set my drag to the correct sensitivity to handle bass and bigger fish, yet still be able to set my hook? i don 't have a spring scale, either, so if possible, i need a general idea of how tight the knob should be tightened, or just an idea of how to go by feel.i also need to set it up on my smaller trout/ panfish pole+reel as well. i 'm not sure what action that pole is, but the reel is a small shimano reel, and i have something between 4lb and 6lb mono on it (i can 't remember the exact weight).i know i 'm asking a lot, but i would appreciate it very much if you could give me some advice. thanks in advance. Okay, so i know i 'm going to sound stupid in more ways than one here. oh well.alright, so i understand the basics of how you set up drag now. the knob on top of the spool is how you adjust it. one way increases it, one way decreases it.however, i don 't get the ins and outs of setting it up. i have a spring scale, but it is small and the highest capacity it can measure is 1kg.so, i guess i need to kind of just go by feel...?anyway, i 'm setting up two reels. one has 8lb mono on it for bass, and one has 4lb mono on it for trout and panfish.how do i set the drag on both of these reels to where it needs to be? the main one is the "bass reel ", but i 'm a perfectionist and i would feel better if i set both up.thanks in advance. Will This Damage My Fishing Reel?
I bought a fin-nor ofs75 from bass pro for sharkfishing.basspro.com/ finnor-offshore-spinning-reels/ product/ 89192/ 124246as you can see, on the website it says that it can hold 480 yards of 15 lbs mono or 460 yards of 100 lbs braid. i just got the reel today though, and on the box it says it takes 460 yards of 20 lbs mono and 365 yards of 65 lbs braid. will the reel still take 460 yards of 100 lbs braid? or will putting 100 lbs braid on damage the reel? im asking because i already bought 500 yards of 100 lbs braid and it was expensive! Help Me Set Up The Drag On My Fishing Reel, Please?
Okay. so, i need to get this done. you may have seen my question before, but i didn 't get a real answer. here 's what 's up.i 'm using 4/ 10 berkley fireline braided line on a daiwa regal-x 2500c reel. i 'm fishing for bass mainly, possibly slightly bigger fish if possible (of course, that depends on if i get my drag set). the rod i 'm using is medium-high action (one piece 6 '6 " shakespeare uglystik)how do i set my drag to the correct sensitivity to handle bass and bigger fish, yet still be able to set my hook? i don 't have a spring scale, either, so if possible, i need a general idea of how tight the knob should be tightened, or just an idea of how to go by feel.i also need to set it up on my smaller trout/ panfish pole+reel as well. i 'm not sure what action that pole is, but the reel is a small shimano reel, and i have something between 4lb and 6lb mono on it (i can 't remember the exact weight).i know i 'm asking a lot, but i would appreciate it very much if you could give me some advice. thanks in advance.
